British nationals need a visa to travel to Indonesia. The most convenient options for UK passport holders are the Indonesia electronic visa on arrival (e-VOA) and the Visitor Visa B211A. Both are available 100% online.

With an approved e-VOA, British tourists can visit Indonesia for up to 30 days on vacation, business, or for other short-term activities. The Visitor Visa is for stays of up to 60 days.

Indonesia Visa Requirements for British Nationals

British nationals need a visa for Indonesia. Visa-free entry is only granted to citizens of ASEAN nations and Timor-Leste.

UK passport holders must hold a visa to go on vacation to Indonesia, including to the island of Bali.

Visa requirements also apply to British children. Every traveler needs a separate online visa for Indonesia, even infants and children included on their parent's passports.

Travelers from the United Kingdom can now get a visa for Indonesia online to stay for up to 30 or 60 days. An Indonesia visa extension granted by the Immigration Office is required to stay longer.

Indonesia Tourist Visas for Travelers From the UK

Here is the most important information about the e-VOA for British nationals:

  • Stay for up to 30 days (e-VOA) or 60 days (Visitor Visa)*
  • Visit for tourism, business, transit, government visits
  • Single entry, travel to Indonesia once

The Indonesia e-VOA is valid for 90 days. You can enter Indonesia at any point within the 90-day validity period indicated on the approved visa.

To stay longer or for other purposes, you need a different type of Indonesian visa.

Indonesia e-VOA Application Steps for UK Nationals

You can apply for your Indonesia e-VOA or Vistor Visa for UK nationals online in 3 steps:

  • Complete the visa application form (see below)

  • Pay the e-Visa fees by debit or credit card

  • Submit the application for review

It’s the same form for both the e-VOA and Visitor Visa application. You’ll be allocated the correct visa type based on your length of stay.

You’ll receive your approved e-Visa for Indonesia by email. You should print the visa and carry it with you when traveling from the United Kingdom to Indonesia.

If you are not able to complete the electronic visa application, you can get a visa on arrival (B213) at the airport. However, UK passport holders are advised to apply online in advance to improve their border crossing experience.

What documents do I need to apply for an Indonesia e-VOA from the UK?

This is what you need to get started with your visa application from the UK:

  • British passport valid for at least 6 months after your arrival date
  • Passport-size photograph
  • Email address
  • Debit or credit card to pay the eVisa fees

To apply for the Visitor Visa B211A you’ll also need proof of funds and a return travel ticket.

Note that you must apply for your visa and travel to Indonesia with the same passport. You may not be able to enter Indonesia if the information on your visa does not match your passport exactly.

Application Form for an Indonesia Visa From the UK

To apply for an Indonesia e-VOA/Visitor Visa from the UK, you need to complete the online application form.

The following information is required:

  • Personal information: first and last name, nationality, country of citizenship, gender, date and place of birth, and email address
  • Passport information: the country of the passport, passport number, dates of issue and expiry of the passport
  • Trip details: transportation, date of arrival, accommodation details

British citizens with an e-VOA or Visitor Visa can enter Indonesia through international airports across the country. The main airports for British arrivals are:

  • Jakarta—Soekarno-Hata Airport (CGK)
  • Bali—Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS)

There are non-direct flights from several UK airports to these Indonesian destinations.

Transit in Indonesia with a UK-issued passport

If you have a long stopover in Indonesia and wish to leave the airport, you should apply for a visa. The e-VOA is valid for transit purposes.

British passport holders do not need a visa if they are transiting through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta for less than 24 hours, or any other international airport in Indonesia for less than 8 hours.

A visa is always required to pass through immigration, this includes changing terminals, even if the time in transit is under 24 hours.
